Fruitière d’Arbois is a cooperative founded in 1906 by twenty-six wine growers after the phylloxera crisis. It now boasts one hundred members cultivating 700 acres in the Arbois and Côte du Jura AOC. The cooperative is the second producer of Jura wines. The Fruitière bought the Château Bethanie in 1969 and built a modern and well-equipped winery and wine cellar in the Park of the Château, which is situated near the town of Arbois. The wine growers bring their grapes to town and are compensated according to their quality.

There are some local grape varieties found in Jura, but Chardonnay is gaining ground. Here it is called Melon d’Arbois. For this wine, the grapes are destemmed, and the wine is fermented and kept in steel tanks. Only 10% is aged in oak barrels for a few months before blending and bottling.
