Description

Château Bonnange is a lovely XVIIIth century Mansion in the Blaye appellation on the right bank of the Gironde estuary, 50 kms from the city of Bordeaux.

The wine is elegant and pure, with perfect balance between the fruity aromas, acidity and tannin, a red Bordeaux par excellence which can be kept and improve for ten years or more.

It is made by experienced winemaker Paul-Emmanuel Boulmé, and the secret lies in the soil. The domain of 15 acres has three different kinds of complementary soils in three vineyards, one is clay and silica stone with sand underground, the other soft cray and clay, the third is stony clay with fossil filled limestone underneath.

The vines are 30-year-old. Grass is kept between rows so there is no use of chemicals. Every parcel is vinified separately. After a 5 weeks maceration and fermentation on native yeasts, the wine is assembled and kept for 13 months in large oak vats and barrels.
