The wine story
Chateau d’Astros is an ancient domain of the Knight Templars dating back to the 13th century. The old chateau and chapel are still there. However Mr. Martin, a businessman from Marseille built a new chateau in 1846. It was designed in the style of an Italian Villa and was the setting of an old classic movie: “Le Chateau de Ma Mère” by Marcel Pagnol.

This splendid domain has been in the Martin-Maurel family for nine generations. It consists of 1,500 acres with 240 acres of vineyards and 25 acres of orchards with 10,000 apple-trees in 12 different varieties. One can go apple picking on site in September, take a jeep tour of the estate, or rent the chateau for a wedding!

This wine is a blend of local varieties with a dark garnet color and a strong body from the Provencal sun.
