Description
Château Maison Noble – Bordeaux White
The wine story
Jean-Bertrand Marque grew up in a fascinating environment. His family has been in or near the wine business since 1764. His ancestor, Pierre Moreau, had a cooperage in Cognac which is still producing world famous barrels today…
Another ancestor was a wine merchant exporting Bordeaux all over the world. This business was still run recently by his father while Jean-Bertrand studied finance and became a chartered accountant for KPMG, like his wife Gaelle. But when he turned 35, passion overcame reason and in 2012, they decided to buy a domain with 50 acres of vineyards. This wine grows on a siliceous clayey plateau, the winemaking is traditional but with modern equipment. The grapes are so severely sorted that every plant produces only one bottle. This wine was aged on lees for five months. Maison Noble is regularly awarded medals in prestigious wine contests for its red, rosé and white wines.
Favorite Pairing
This fresh wine is versatile and can pair with a whole menu…oysters, avocado and shrimps, white fish or salmon with lemon sauce, pork chops or tenderloin, turkey blanquette and soft creamy cheese.
The Region
This part of the Bordeaux wine area is the northern limit of the appellation, about 50 kms east of the city of Bordeaux.
Bordeaux wines are reliable because the winemakers have to respect a lot of regulations to obtain the label and their wines must pass a hint blind testing every year. Making laws about everything seems to be a French and now European favorite activity, but can be useful sometimes…
