Description
Château Puyfromage – Cuvée Albert Signature
The wine story
This domain belongs to four brothers, Yves, Francis, Philippe and Frédéric Marque. Their ancestors were coopers and wine merchants. Their grandfather, Abel Albert, bought this splendid property in 1943. There is a charming 16th century Renaissance lodging, an 11th century fortress with a large hall for wine tastings, and a spectacular dovecote with 1,000 pigeonholes. But no more pigeons today… They love grapes too much! Plus, of course, the old cellars and wineries. All in a perfect condition.
It is a hilly landscape with clay and silt on the tops, clay and limestone on the slopes. The subsoil is asteriated limestone rock, full of fossilized oysters, that act like a sponge and release a supply of water to the wines during dry spells.
This cuvée is aged for 18 months in oak barrels.
