Description
The wine story
This cuvée is named after the heroine of the first romantic novel of French literature, written by Madame de Lafayette in the XVth century. The Princess de Clèves was a model of purity as is this wine.
The Clos d’Yvigne is on a well-exposed ridge that runs along the Dordogne River near the picturesque city of Bergerac. The soil is gravel and clay on a limestone base.
The owner Patricia Atkinson was a financial consultant in the City of London. In 1990, with her husband and five kids, they decided to sell everything and buy a rundown farm- house with 4 ha of vineyard in France. She had to learn everything from scratch, first learn French! …With help from her neighbors, hard work and dedication, and despite her husband’s illness, it took ten years to achieve her aim. She now works 21 ha, produces award- winning wines, and even wrote a book about her adventure: « The ripening sun »
