The Sumeire family has been established in Provence since the 16th century and they became important wine merchants. The Coussin domain was bought in 1903 by M. Gautier, and his grand-daughter Nelly and only heiress as all the sons had been killed in the war, married Elie Sumeire in 1936….Elie had four brothers, a sister and Nelly gave him two sons. So, they acquired two other chateaux, and now own 740 acres, one of the largest family-owned-domain in France.
The youngest partners, Olivier and Sophie now handle marketing for the family production.
The vineyards are classified in AOC Côtes de Provence or Sainte Victoire, using local varieties to produce red, white and rosé wines.
