Description
Sweet Gewurztraminer Cuvee Engelgarden 2016 – from the Alsace region.
The Muller wines have a long and prestigious history. Emperor Napoleon as well as Queen Elizabeth II enjoyed some Muller wine. It was offered to President Kennedy and the First Lady during the 1961 State dinner at Versailles by President de Gaulle.
The Muller vineyards amount to 50 acres. On top of that, they purchase grapes from about 300 acres in the area around Bergheim, from smaller vine growers. Their pride is the grand cru area: Altenberg de Bergheim.
Gewürztraminer is a pink-skinned variety also grown in Germany. It is very aromatic and performs best in cool climates. The producers in Alsace do not use oak-aging to add spice and richness, instead they rely on a balance of ripeness and alcohol to fill out the flavor.
