In the 18th century, the beautiful Château Peyrat Fourthon was a hunting lodge. Grape cultivation began in 1834. And Hèrvé Godin acquired the domain in 1998. He then decided to renovate the cellar and started producing elegant and sophisticated red wines. Since 2004 the domain is owned by the Narboni family. Pierre Narboni decided to enlarge the vineyard to 48 acres. The Haut-Medoc appellation is based on several grape varieties that can be combined differently in every domain. Some Bordeaux wines even use only one variety. La Demoiselle Haut Peyrat is made from three varieties: Merlot, Cabernet-Sauvignon and a little Petit verdot. The vines are 23-year-old and grow on chalky clay and gravel. The grapes are handpicked and the wine making process combines modern technology with traditional winemaking. They don’t use any artificial additives nor coloring. The wine is then aged in oak barrels for 12 months.  This then creates a complex wine sustained by well-rounded tannins that can age very well up to ten years.
