Blend: 100% Chardonnay

Wine Region: Grand Cru Avize, Côte des Blancs, Champagne

Tasting Notes: L’Inattendue, the Unexpected, is a new launch for Henriot signifying the direction Gilles de Larouzière Henriot wants to take for the future. Experimenting with single vineyards and single varietals in single years, and exemplifying their characteristics. This wine is fresh and  youthful, with a precise citrus and tropical flavor, and mineral driven intensity. With 4g/l dosage, it will age beautifully to include toasted notes of brioche and vanilla. This wine is truly elegant and is making a statement for their future, and in our opinion, will soon be on every collector’s list as they explore their best vineyards and varietals.

When to Drink: This wine has already undergone 4 years of ageing, if you like the bright mineral tastes then drink now. However we believe this wine will be able to rest for at least 10 years, though we’d recommend trying in 5.

Pairing: Champagne is so wonderfully versatile. Perfect for an apertif and appetizers of cured salty meats, soft and hard cheeses with honey and fruits. Duck, poached salmon, asian cuisine, root vegetables and sweet potato fries all pair well with this wine, as well as a multitude of desserts and sweet foods. Buttered popcorn is also an unexpected delight.
