Description

This small domain of 20 acres is situated near Macon, in the northern part of Burgundy. It is a new appellation. Its soil is clay and lime and the vines grow on a slope near the small village of Cray. They work without chemical fertilizer but use animal compost from their farm.

Franck Michel and his nephew Vincent took over the domain from Franck’s father in 1966. Franck is the cellar master while Vincent is in charge of the vineyard. Vincent’s father Denis takes care of the cattle.   The family have made wine for six generations.

The grapes are picked at the end of September and sorted for ripeness then put in a pneumatic press, no added sugar or yeasts. The wine is aged in steel vats for a year. The domain Michel has won very good scores from wine critics.
