The wine story
This large and very ancient domain, more than 60 acres, belongs to 800 co-owners. The group ”Vignerons Ardechois” organized the purchase and renovations by crowdfunding : it took a year to build a new cellar and winery and update the equipment. The old buildings have been repaired to welcome visitors or for special events. The domain is also a bird sanctuary, being in a very preserved environment.
The purpose was to create a place where wine makers can learn organic farming from vineyard to cellar, and a research center to experiment the use of old Mediterranean grape varieties better adapted to global warming.
After a long maceration, the different varieties are vinified separately to obtain the best assemblage, and the yield is limited.
Favorite Pairing
Perfect wine for a dinner with friends or family, with simple dishes: lasagna, sheperd’s pie, roast chicken or cheeseburger.
The Region
Ardeche is a department, and a river in the south of France, on the right bank of the Rhone Valley. It is also a tourist destination in summer because of the beautiful Gorges de l’Ardeche where canoeing is very popular. The vineyards are on the slopes overlooking the river. The warm and dry climate and the local mistral wind are excellent for ripe and healthy grapes.
Aroma
Dried figs and red berries
Flavor
This wine is tasty and fruity, full of sun. There are soft tannins and some spices in the end.
