Description
Hubert Veneau – Pouilly-Fumé, 2019
A Fantastic Sauvignon Blanc from the Loire Valley
The Winemakers
The domaine takes its name from Hubert Veneau who was born into a winemaking family and decided to start his own project in the Loire in the 1970s. Under his visionary and passionate leadership, the estate blossomed from 2 to 36 hectares of vines. Today it is in the capable hands of his two sons, Bertrand and Jerome.
The Wine
The duo work with their father’s 40 year old vines planted on sandy and limestone soils which give the wine its crisp and bright citrus flavor profile. In the winery, they only use the wild yeasts that are naturally found in the vineyard. The grape must is fermented in stainless steel tanks to preserve the characteristic zingy freshness and mineral notes.
We highly recommend pairing this vibrant white with a classic Loire dish – pike cooked in a luscious butter sauce with a splash or two of the wine in the pan to make it even more delicious! You can also replace the pike with other firm white fish like cod, haddock, and sea bass. Try pairing it with lobster, crab, or prawns as well.
Hubert Veneau Pouilly Fume is only available in the USA through somMailier, and we still have a few bottles of this delicious white available to purchase if you’re quick!
