Les Terrasses de Saint Christophe 2017 – Saint Emilion Red
This domain was bought in 2012 by Peter Kwok and his daughter Karen. Mr. Kwok, a businessman from Hong Kong, was born in Vietnam. Familiar with French culture, wine, and food, he wanted to share his love of France with his family. The château is in a picturesque setting in the appellation Saint Emilion Grand Cru on 50 acres. Part of the vineyard is planted on century-old dry stone terraces. Kwok was determined to challenge the French vignerons and produce the best possible wine. The château was repaired and terraces restored by hand (about 1.5 km).
The vines face south west, an ideal exposure. Clay and limestone terroir offer good draining conditions. The grapes are handpicked with first selection in the vineyards. Then careful second sorting and destemming at the winery. After fermentation in temperature controlled vats, the wine is aged for 15 months in oak barrels. It is a limpid red with bright red cherry color.
