Tasting Notes: Intense aroma of red berries and peony. Fleshy, fruity, tannic, with peppery notes. Balanced and full bodied. Improves with ageing.

Blend:  70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot, 10% Petit Verdot

Hold Time: Now or up to 10 years

Alcohol: 13.5%

Pair With: Excellent with barbecued meat, T-bone steak, duck breast or lamb chops. It also pairs well with meat casseroles, osso bucco and Beef stroganoff or with creamy tasty cheese like Brie or Camembert.

Description

The wines from Villegeorge have been famed since the 18th century and were recognized as exceptional in 1932 and again in 1966.

They were bought by Lucien Lurton in 1973. As Lucien had ten children, he created a dynasty of wine makers by giving every one of them one or several domains. In 1992, he gave this property to his daughter Marie-Laure.  She began managing the vineyards in 1986 after studying oenology.

The terroir is deep gravel which is supposed to give the best to Médoc, as the gravel keeps the warmth of the day. This ruby colored wine is macerated for twenty days and aged in vats for about fourteen months.

The lovely pink chateau has an ancient brick factory where they can host weddings and receptions. Cooking lessons with wine tasting dinners are also offered.
