Jean-Paul Godinat – Quincy 2019

Jean-Paul Godinat is the grandson of the founder of the Grand Chai de Touraine, a wine dealer specializing in the Loire Valley wines. Godinat bought this property in Quincy in 1996. Quincy is a small wine area of only about 400 acres, with small domains from 10 to 50 acres. Located along the banks of the Cher, a tributary of the Loire, the soil is a plateau made of ancient deposits of sandy gravel and clay. The Sauvignon variety is one of the most popular in the world. Sales of Sauvignon have grown by 70% over the last ten years. According to some ampelographers or specialists of grape varieties, Quincy could be the birthplace of Sauvignon. Here, the vinification is traditional in temperature controlled stainless steel vats. The wine is bottled rapidly without using oak barrels. This wine is pale gold with the freshness and complexity of the variety
