Blend: 100% Pinot Noir
Wine Region: La Maltroie Premier Cru, Chassagne-Montrachet, Cote de Beaune, Cote d’Or, Burgundy
Tasting Notes: The grapes were raised on an eastern facing bank of clay marls and limestone, producing characteristically complex wines with delicate fruit and concentrated spices. The nose opens with fresh cherries and ripe raspberries, enhanced with spice notes. The finesse of the delicate fruit and suave tannins are rivaled by a full body, concentrated spices and soft notes of smoke. The producer only uses indigenous yeasts, with the goal of the grapes and terroir to fully express themselves. Afterward the wine spends 12 months on lees in French oak, then additional ageing in French oak casks from 1 to 2 years.
When to Drink: This wine comes of age around 7 to 9 years, but can keep for the next 10. Decant if it’s too hard to resist.
